Hi I'm Rae, otherwise known as Rae gun.

I'm a self taught artist from Newcastle upon Tyne UK, and I specialise in detailed hand drawn illustrations. I've been drawing since I was a child, (4 to be exact) and Im now classed as a mixed media artist, but my true love will always be drawing in pencil as I absolutely love the level of detail I can create with it. 

My work tends to lean towards the art of Chiaroscuro, using a monochromatic pallete, which in simple terms means there is lots of high contrast between the light and the dark and it almost picks out the shadows and chases light across the page. I like to think of my work as passionate and with a dash of whimsy, but please let me know if you agree. Oh and one other thing, I'm a qualified Arborist and you may notice an reoccurring theme in my most recent work focusing on the conservation of the UK's native trees, its wildlife and the ecosystems that thrive around them. It's a huge passion of mine and I and if I'm doing my job right, it will encourage you to make it a passion of yours too.
